The Area

Marbella and Puerto BanusThis resort town is rapidly becoming Spains “St Tropez”. A favourite location with the rich and famous, sit by the harbour and envy the owners of the luxury multi million pound yachts that regularly berth here. Or celebrity watch in the many cafes and bars that line the sea front.
Shops and houses sit close by in the small narrow streets of the old town creating a village type atmosphere which is at odds with the commercial and excessively rich harbour area. This however is appealing and many traditional Spanish souvenirs can be purchased in these smaller shops at more reasonable prices. If you fancy boutique and department shopping then this is the place to do it; the commercial part of the city hosts El Corte Inglis, a famous department store very similar to John Lewis and the various shopping centres in the town are full of small exclusive clothes From La Almeda park you can book a horse and carriage ride through the town, the drivers generally speak good English and are a wealth of local knowledge and gossip on the many celebrities that frequent the city. |
